An exciting weekend in the Pacific Northwest for sport dog fans.
This weekend, my old club, Twin County Schutzhund Club, put on the 2024 PNW Regional Championship. They saw a big turnout with some talented competitors. I had a good time seeing a lot of old friends. I have to admit it was a little bittersweet to see all these people with their incredible dogs so soon after losing Bacchus. He loved his schutzhund (and PSA) training days.
It may have lit a fire to get back into things, although Ziggy is not cut out for this kind of sport. She is much happier holding down the couch than doing a bark and hold.
Here are a few pictures of the event. Awards table (CIPR sponsored the Helper’s Favorite trophy). Dog flying over the hurdle. New PNW IGP3 Champion Jenni Thorpe. A dog locks in on helper Denis Krigbaum. A GSD steals the sleeve during helper tryouts. Beautiful example of a German Shepherd. Up close and personal with helper Elijah Thomas. Two competitors listen to Judge Nathanial Roque give his critique under beautiful blue skies.
