The most decorated K9 in US history passed away this week.

Hurricane, a 16-year-old Belgian Malinois, first came to public notoriety for taking down a White House intruder in 2014 when President Obama and his family were inside.

At the time, he was a Special Operations Canine with the United States Secret Service.
If I remember correctly, the person scaled a fence and was met by another dog first, but managed to fight it off and continued toward the White House where he was met by Hurricane. At that point, he was stopped from going forward. Hurricane did suffer some injuries in the attack.
He received numerous honors, including the USSS Award for Merit, the DHS Award for Valor, the PDSA Order of Merit, and AMC Top Dog. He also made history as the first dog to receive the Animals in War and Peace Distinguished Service Medal, which earned him a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Due to the injuries he sustained in the event, he was retired in 2016.
His handler, Marshall Mirachi also retired and launched K9 Hurricane’s Heroes, a non-profit raising money for retired working dogs.
