Science Diet has recalled a small number of bags of dog food over salmonella worries.
Hill’s Brand Dog Foods has voluntarily recalled 62 bags of its Science Diet Adult Small & Toy Breed Dry food. The bags were distributed to veterinarians in Nevada, California, and Hawaii. Here is the Topeka-based company’s press release.
I will use this as an opportunity to, once again, jump up on my soap box to talk about the importance of knowing what your dog is eating. While veterinarians and the AVMA shun raw feeding, partially because of studies funded by Hill’s and Mars (Pedigree), and other dog food manufacturers, being aware of the ingredients, feeding your dog healthier and more natural items, and steering clear of the overly processed kibble are, in my opinion, some of the best things you can do for the health of your dog.
