A Lap at the Lake

My puppy is growing like a weed. We did a weigh in this weekend at Mud Bay and Basil tipped the scales at 79.6 lbs at just over 7 months old.

Training is coming along and he is an enthusiastic learner. Part of training is showing him the world. On Tuesday we went to Olympia and took a lap of the Capital Lake. It was the first day of Lakefaire and many vendors were setting up on the grounds and the rides were up and ready, even if not running yet. It was a lot of input for a little guy.

He did great and was very well behaved. From time to time there was a little pulling on the leash as he tried to see people or sniff interesting things like the tons of goose poop on the shore.

Some of the things he got to experience were other dogs walking by,runners, people using walking sticks, ducks, more ducks, walking on a wooden bridge, walking on wooden docks, walking on metal grates, and strangers staring at this huge puppy.

We also headed down by the marina where he walked in the water on the shore- very scary at first- and walked the moorage which he found intimidating at first, with all the water around him. Still, as overwhelming as it could have been, he did very well.

He also slept like a log that night.
