The Pacific Northwest is an amazing part of the country. From the Eastern Washington desert to the mountains to the amazing Pacific coast, there are so many different elements. Sometimes it is easy to start to ignore the beauty of it all, so you need to take a breather to enjoy it.
That’s what we did this week.
The original plan was to take Basil on an overnight trip so he could begin to learn how to behave on a road trip. However, Xiggy has been very needy lately. I think with the puppy now bigger than her and taking up a lot of my time, she is feeling neglected. We changed our plan and took her on the road trip to Long Beach. It is still good for Basil as he will need to be able to be kenneled down the road and this would be a good experience for him.
While the trip is not far for us, it takes a while as the road winds through the foothills and along the rivers.

Our first stop was a quick break in Raymond where Xiggy posed at a few spots and got a chance to stretch her legs.

The next stop was in South Bend, home of the World’s Largest Oyster. You better believe we were getting pictures there.

The Adrift Hotel was our final destination. They are a dog-friendly resort right on the beach. We took a stroll out to the water’s edge and along the boardwalk, which they claim is the world’s longest. We did not walk the whole length.

We had dinner reservations so she relaxed with a nice juicy bone in the room and we went out for about an hour. She was very well behaved.
She settled well overnight, although in the morning, we found she had made her way onto the bed, but the king size mattress was so large we hadn’t noticed her. She seemed pretty proud of herself.
She had a quick pose by the pool, although dogs are not allowed into it, then we were bound for home.
